For Surrogates

Florida Surrogate Support
How Advocates for Surrogacy supports our surrogates

A group of surrogate women supporting one another

Carrying a child for another family is one of the most significant things a woman can do. The compensation matters — but so does the support that surrounds it. Here is what Florida surrogates working with AFS can count on, with real examples from the cases we run every day.

Our promise: You will always have one dedicated advocate guiding you — by phone, text, or email — 24/7. Not a portal. Not a rotating staff. A real person who knows your name, your match, and your story. That real person is our founder and head advocate.

The pillars of AFS support

24/7 Personal Advocacy

Your dedicated advocate is reachable around the clock — and is our founder, Candace, herself. You will not be passed to an intake portal or a junior staffer.

Independent Legal Counsel

An attorney representing only you reviews your gestational surrogacy contract before you sign. Paid for by the intended parents.

Escrow Funded Before You Move Forward

Your compensation, allowances, and reimbursements are placed in an independent escrow account and confirmed funded before contracts are signed.

Health Insurance Arranged for You

If your own policy can't be used, we arrange surrogate-friendly coverage. Medicaid is never used in our matches.

$750,000 Life Insurance Policy

A life insurance policy is placed on you for the full duration of your pregnancy, naming a beneficiary you choose.

Travel Paid Before You Go

Mileage, airfare, hotel, rideshare, parking, food, pet boarding, and childcare — all paid before the trip, never after.

Lost Wages, Yours and Your Partner's

Reimbursed for all required appointments and any doctor-ordered bed rest — for you and your spouse or partner.

Wellness & Emotional Support

Access to counselors who specialize in surrogacy, plus connection to a community of other AFS surrogates who've walked the same road.

What this looks like in real life

Names and identifying details are composites; the situations are typical of cases AFS manages in Florida.

Example 1 — Tampa: bed rest at 28 weeks

A Tampa surrogate carrying twins was placed on doctor-ordered bed rest at 28 weeks. Within the same day, AFS coordinated three things: a housekeeping service to come to her home twice a week, after-school childcare for her two kids, and lost-wage reimbursement for her husband, who needed to leave work early to manage school pickup. None of it came out of her pocket.

Example 2 — All known payments in escrow before medication starts

Once a surrogate and intended parents enter into a contract after successful screening, all known funds due to the surrogate under the agreement are placed in a 3rd-party escrow account before medications begin. The money is there — confirmed and ready — before she ever takes her first injection.

Example 3 — Jacksonville: travel to the IVF clinic

A Jacksonville surrogate matched with intended parents whose IVF clinic was in Miami. For her transfer cycle, AFS booked her flights, arranged her hotel, provided estimated Uber transportation, paid a food per diem, and covered her husband's travel as her companion for the transfer itself. Everything was paid to her before she left the house — not reimbursed after.

Example 4 — Fort Lauderdale: post-birth recovery

A Fort Lauderdale surrogate delivered via planned C-section. AFS coordinated her c-section fee, post-partum lost wages while she recovered, and a series of follow-up counseling sessions in the weeks after the baby went home with the intended parents. The relationship doesn't end at delivery.

Florida-specific advantages

  • Surrogacy-friendly state law. Florida statutes (Fla. Stat. §§ 742.13–742.17) recognize gestational surrogacy contracts, which means clear legal protection for you and the intended parents from the start. See our Florida Surrogacy Laws guide.
  • Top fertility clinics in-state. AFS works with leading reproductive endocrinologists in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale, so most of our Florida surrogates can be matched to a clinic within driving distance.
  • A local team. Our office is in Miami, so when you need to talk to a person, you're talking to your own community — not an out-of-state call center.
